Phoenix Messaging Guidelines

One of the most challenging things about designing a product from scratch is consistency. As the Lead Product Designer on the new marketing platform at Magnetic my job doesn't end at designing products from concept to completion, but I also need to radiate consistency from the products design to how we talk about the product itself.

Problem

We need to know how to talk about Phoenix (new self-serve marketing platform) both internally and externally. Not only do we need to know how to talk about Phoenix but how Phoenix talks to users, primarily tone and voice. How can we make this shareable and editable aka a living document that we can continually update?

Solution

Create a tone & voice guide to help the company understand who Phoenix is and how to talk about Phoenix and how Phoenix talks to our users. Create the messaging in Google Slides with the page size (A4) printable as the simplest way to keep this up to date and shareable.

Process

Research - Did an audit of how other brands discussed their products tone and voice.

Iteration - Worked with a Director of Project Management as well as a Product Marketer to make sure we highlight all necessary elements to educate our company.
